Aelcio da Silva Matos (known as Elcio Matos) is a British qualified chiropodist, who was born in Brazil where he qualified and practiced as a dentist. Moved to United Kingdom in 1989, but was unable to continue his Dental Career. Wishing to remain within medicine he decided to study to become a Chiropodist at the Institute of Chiropodist and Podiatrist in Sheffield. On qualifying, he also successfully applied to and was accepted as a Member of the Health Professions Council. Since moving to Spain in 2003, he has practiced as a Mobile Chiropodist developing a large clientele base, working along The Costa del Sol from Torremolinos to Gibraltar. As well as working with various clinics and doctors surgeries, he also visits private homes, Sheltered Accommodations, Nursing Homes, Beauty Parlours, Hairdressing Salons, Hotels, etc. Elcio has developed a high profile within the medical field on the Costa del Sol, not only for his professional expertise but also for his easy personal manner that helps put his clients at their ease. He is also a firm believer in Patient Follow-up and welcomes the opportunity to return to a client, should they have any concerns about their progress after treatment.

Treatment of the feet: Services offered

Hard Skin-(Hyperkeratosis). Removal of hard skin, callous and corns, often caused by rubbing of the foot in the shoe (shearing stress), long term standing, running, excess pressure on the weight bearing point of the foot or between adjacent toes.
Skin Infection- Athletes foot (Tinea Pedis). Usually contracted in swimming baths, shared bathing facilities, from human to human, pets and soil.
Verrucae: Liquid nitrogen- contracted in similar ways to Athletes foot.
Ingrown toe nail- Onychocryptosis. (non surgical)
Fungal nail- Onychomycosis. Fungal infection of the nail bed and nail plate. The infected nail plate becomes thickened and brittle and takes on a yellowish-brown colors, eventually developing "worm-eaten" or porous appearance.
Advice on foot wear.
Treatment of the diabetic foot. The diabetic patient needs to pay special attention to the feet, due to high risk of infections and other complications, specially those with peripheral neuropathy (lack of ability to feel pain and/or sensation).
